Simple Woman #64

For today...  June 14, 2010

Outside my window...  chorophyll, everywhere you look, cholorphyll.

I am thinking...  just which gene is it that programs boys to make all those noises?
(Deep thoughts, people.)

I am thankful for...  finishing with our school work and testing, and the freedom and openness that brings to our daily schedule.

I am praying for...  my mom is recovering from hand surgery, Kerry could use some work, and the boys and I need to find the right balance of free time and structure that makes a happy summer.

I am wearing...  capris, t-shirt, sandals.

I am creating...  making slow progress on the Christmas quilt.

I am going...  slowly.  Very slowly.  :D

I am reading...  need to pick up a stack of books from the library.

I am hearing...  the boys playing out in the yard.  A lot of yelling.  But it's (mostly) happy yelling.

I am remembering...  being excited about the last day of school, as a kid!

From the learning rooms...  not much.  Since public school is still in session, (and neighborhood kids are not available to play), we'll be keeping ourselves occupied with 'projects' ;D

Around the house...  balloons from yesterday's end-of-our-school-year party, enormous chocolate "reward" bars, and Calvin and Hobbes books.

On my mind...  the complexities of kid-friendships.  *sigh*

Noticing that...  the boys are growing and maturing at an amazing rate.

Pondering these words...  a sacrifice of praise.

One of my favorite things...  my boys' faces :D

A few plans for the rest of the week...  reading, sewing, working in the yard if the weather permits, and Wyatt's piano recital on Saturday.

Here is a picture I am sharing...

Both dogwoods in full bloom... a few weeks ago.

  2. Beautiful picture!
I have also wondered how boys get to make those noises?? I tried as a child to copy them, but couldn't! And now as a mom, I just marvel at the range of sound effects they produce..!!

  5. Beautiful!!!!
So fun to read about your boys playing, recently at our homeschool conference a speaker spoke about his family being "loud" and how positive it was- i was glad to hear that because we tend to be loud- which is ok with me as long as it is happy loud:)
    Blessings,
