Grasshopper Days

Grasshopper Days

For today, Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Outside my window...
cloudy earlier, but clear this evening.
Sadly, most of the leaves are gone from my dogwood trees.
Our crazy-dry summer really did a number on our fall color potential.
I know, I know.
Oh, the humanity.

Hearing...
a quiet house.
The boys are at CAP,
the dryer is doing its thing,
and I'm contemplating how early is too early to go to bed.

Pondering...
my mind is still in a whirl,
processing the last few days in Arkansas!

Praying...
* Breanna in Myanmar having some serious health issues
* Tate taking the PSAT tomorrow - surprise!
* Gunnar and me, getting good schoolwork done before Kerry and I travel

Thankful...
* for a FABULOUS time in Arkansas, turning "computer generated friends" into IRL friends
* for safe travel (in spite of some "exciting" connections
* for how good it is to be home again.

Wearing...
anything I can find while I catch up on laundry ;D

Creating...
not working on anything at the moment, but I'll share a gift I made:

More pics later :D
This "reads" very black and white and I don't know how to fix that.
Actually, it's white and navy blue, with a blueberry print fabric
with some periwinkle and green in it.

For some reason, this photo shows it better...

Anyway, back to that later.

Going...
good heavens, I have no idea what I'm doing.
Gunnar didn't have his violin lesson today
as his teacher went to Ireland on vacation,
but I know there's an orthodontist appointment and
an eye appointment later this week.

Reading...
um?
I started something before I left, but what?

Learning...
how to navigate unfamiliar airports!

Looking forward to...
a different kind of trip with Kerry :D

In the kitchen...
tacos for lunch, and CAP this evening.
Instead of calling it "fend-for-yourself" dinner,
I love what some friends say.
You know how some events have assigned seating and others don't?
Festival seating, right?
Well, it's a "festival" dinner.

In the learning rooms...
I still haven't looked over Gunnar's math from today.
Getting back in the groove...

Around the house...
I had a brief moment of hope that the contractor might have
come and finished up the window trim in the living room while I was gone,
but no such luck.
Soon, maybe?

The Mother Load...
I have no idea,
but I've got to get clean sheets on my bed,
and an extra blanket.
The nights are getting really cool, and I actually turned on the furnace today.

Noticing that...
pretty sure our dry-the-laundry-on-the-line
days are done for this year.
Though the temps aren't too cold yet,
when it's in the 50s and the humidity is in the 90% range...
not much evaporates.
Thankful for the dryer.

Something to remember for later...
to ask Joanna for the rest of the bread recipe... the starter?

One of my favorite things...
my own bed :D

A peek into my world...
so glad my world includes these sweet friends :D
