Another Reason to Homeschool

It's 35F and raining.  Welcome to my world.  (Apparently I woke up feeling just a little bit snarky this morning.)  I look outside at the wet darkness and it's clear to me why so many animals hibernate.

It might also have something to do with getting everyone back in the groove of our homeschool routine.  Let's just say there's been a wee bit of drama.  Day Three, and things are falling back into place.

Gunnar sat across from me, practicing his handwriting.  And smiling to himself.  I glanced over his shoulder as he carefully copied, "Look! A big rabbit," and then added, "with sunglasses."

Indeed, the picture of the rabbit had been accessorized with sunglasses, bandoliers, a grenade, a knife, and, "Those are the bunny's two little pistols, Mama."

Of course, in public school this would raise all kinds of red flags, the school psychiatrist would hyperventilate and call me, and he would probably be suspended for violating the school weapons policy, because he's obviously a disturbed and violent child.

Around here we just say, "He's a boy."

Ahhh, I love it!!Yes, he's definitely a boy. What is a boy without weapons :o)? I was just thinking about hibernating. I think the animals totally have the right idea. First though, I'm going to go clean the "boy cave ."

Blessings!

Oh boy!! There's no knowing what my kids could be accused of!!
Accessorizing pictures is part of their curriculum (they think so anyway), and weapons find there way in everywhere - especially onto the pages of Daniel's maths book! (It's what he'd like to do to his maths book...)
I just converted 35 degrees F into Celcuis - OUCH! That's 2 degrees!!

Take care and keep warm!

You don't know how close you may be to the truth.

A few years before I left my teaching position, an honor roll student at the High School [with no disciplinary record] was suspended on the zero-tolerance policy because of spent shot-gun shells that were found in the bed of his pick-up truck.

2 degrees C! You can have it! Here we have lots of humidity and rain....rain....rain.....
We are not back to "school" yet but the picture you describe sounds remarkably normal to me :-)
Have a great year grasshopper crew.

I LOVE this post!!! As a public school kindergarten teacher, I have to stop "weapon play" all the time. With 5 yr old boys, EVERYTHING becomes a gun, a sword, or a light saber (all of which are no nos). So glad that Gunnar can grow up without the worries of our PC society.
