Cue the Hallelujah Chorus, or James Brown

Thanks to a very helpful Carrie (Kari? Cari? Kerry?) down at Children's,

the boys' insurance is

ALL SORTED OUT.

Oh my word, I can't begin to tell you what a load off my shoulders that is!
That means that all we need to be concerned about for Tate's CI surgery,
is the surgery.
And we're at peace about that.

In other news...

It's testing time at Wyatt's school this week,
which means he's not rushing off to the bus first thing in the morning.
I told him he doesn't have to take the tests.
Because you know how I feel about standardized testing.
(*eyes roll*)

I keep waiting to get a call from the school...

And the sun just came out.
And Kerry and the boys are off to his brother's for the evening.
And...

Yay, Yay, Yay about the insurance!!!

I never made the girls do standardized testing either... This made some people's heads want to explode (both homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers)! I had so many people try to scare me in testing. I mean they did SATs and such but not the "State" testing. I had people tell me they would FAIL their SATs if they didn't learn "how" to test. Both did really well on them so HA!

The whole testing things is NUTS. In Washington state we have choices to satisfy the state's requirements, and I think annual testing is the easiest way (for my kids) so that's what they do. We spend ZERO time preparing for the tests. I tell the kids that the tests are just information for ME about what we're doing well and what we need to improve on.

But NEWSFLASH - I've never been surprised by their test scores. I already know what they're good at and what they struggle with. I just figure, if that's part of the "cost" of homeschooling in our state, well... you hold the hoop, and I'll hula. Whatevs.

Since Wyatt is PT at the public school, I've told him that he (obviously) has to take tests for the classes he's taking. Duh. But anything else, he is welcome to skip.

And, more to my surprise, the school hasn't hassled us a bit. Probably because I've made it clear that we're not seeking a diploma from them.
