Grasshopper Days 3-21-11

Grasshopper Days

For today, March 21, 2011

Outside my window...  officially it's spring, and I'm trying to believe it.  The robins are back and the boys have seen bumblebees in the yard, but the cold temps (only 10 above freezing) and the snow in the hills aren't quite ready to let go yet.

I am thinking...  There's no place like home.

I am thankful for...  safe travels, fun in the snow for the boys, and my family.

I am praying for...  friends and strangers in Japan, attitudes and homeschool, my family.

I am wearing...  not-leaving-the-house-today-uniform: gray sweats, purple sweater, thick socks and slippers, hair up.  I know, I know, stylish beyond belief, yah?

I am creating...  plans.

I am going...  to fold mountains of laundry today (good thing the boys will do much of the putting away), to plan meals for the week, and clean house.  Definitely in the spring cleaning mode!

I am reading...  finishing The Hiding Place, and not sure what's up next, but have several books on reserve at the library.

I am hearing...  washer and dryer working ;D

From the learning rooms...  fractions, ratios, division, stories with missing numbers, the Suez Canal crisis of the 50's, The Marshall Plan and the Berlin food drops, words with carn and corp, poetry, positive/comparative/superlative adjectives, memorizing Philippians 2, more experiments with magnetism, and courtesy.

From the kitchen...  hmmmm, working on that meal plan...

Around the house...  much that needs tidying and dusting.  Feeling the need to de-clutter.

On my mind...  how much I need to be praying for our family.

Noticing that...  you can't please everyone.

Pondering these words...
You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.

One of my favorite things...  home!

A few plans for the rest of the week...  cleaning, organizing, planning... the usual.

Here is a picture I am sharing...

What a difference four years makes... Summer 2007.
Cute?

When I look at photos of even just a few years ago, and see the differences in my kids, I just want to cry! (I'm sentimental like that - emphasis on the mental bit...) I've just realised that photos of other people's kids does the same thing...
I think praying for attitudes and homeschool is a good thing to be praying for, I need to do that too... especially today ;-)
If we were separated at birth - one of us is on the wrong continent, and I think it's ME!
Hope your week goes well.

*Smiling* They are oh so cute! Isn't the decluttering fun? I did the girls' rooms today. They look so much better -- even with the hugely drywall mudded areas on the walls :oD.

Blessings!
