Does the knowledge that it's a line from a movie change your opinion at all?
It's from Anchorman - The Legend of Ron Burgandy .... it's Will Ferrel playing an early 80s news anchor...who is obviously a bit vain and fame-seeking. It's similar to the "Don't you know who I am?" tongue-in-cheek... he wants to be recognized and says, "I'm Ron Burgandy. I'm kind of a big deal."
I don't know... the weird thing was that it was on a school sweatshirt, promoting a school sport. It just strikes me as weird, first that the school would produce such a thing, and second that any parent would buy it for their kid.
I mean, really aren't adolescents self-centered enough on their own? Does anyone really want to encourage that?

Though I AM surprised they make it kids sizes.

I don't like that at all. Don't they have parent advisors on those types of decisions?
I don't think I'd let my kids wear message t-shirts at all... and if my son came home with that... I'd ask, "Can you live up to that statement?"
Adolescents are self absorbed to begin with (which in part is the natural order of things) ... and you're right about not encouraging it.
hmmm, maybe the same mom(?) who uses pepper spray to guard a tv from other shoppers on Black Friday??
It being a movie quote makes 'sense' {if you can call it that} ~ the school promoting it does not. None of it makes *good* sense.
The same parents who are exasperated the next week when their children are arrogant and self-centered.
Or who are aggravated when their kids copy other things from Will Ferrell, whose films do not always good examples make.
