One thing I love about Thanksgiving

Okay, there are LOTS of things I love about Thanksgiving, and most of them are much more meaningful than this, but...

One thing I love about Thanksgiving is CHEAP TURKEYS! All the grocery stores put them on sale, and I fill up my freezer. What... do some of you only eat turkey on holidays? We eat it all year! Like chicken... but cheaper.

So now I have five, count 'em, FIVE turkeys wedged in there, along with a large cooler's worth of elk meat (thanks Dad!) and one of those oh-so-delicious Costco hams... the ones that come wrapped in red foil. I think we're set for awhile!

You know I have 2 refrigerators (both with freezers on top), and a chest freezer as well. I have NEVER thought to buy turkeys at Thanksgiving when they are cheaper and freeze them! Who'd have "thunk"? Well YOU would, have of course... so I thank you for thinking! smile!

Hah! I do that too! I LOVE it when they go on sale. We can have turkey at least three times during the week when its a larger bird. (You wouldn't believe how much my kids can eat)!

I thought about stocking up on turkeys, but our freezer is so small! Maybe its time to kick out the frozen peas for some cheap turkey, lol.

I'll cook a turkey and we'll eat it 'fresh' for dinner, and maybe the next day.

Then I take all the meat and either make turkey pot pies (they freeze wonderfully, and you can cook them from frozen), or just freeze the meat in 2C portions to use in recipes (like chicken).
