Just A Thought...

Since we're talking about cleaning out and treasures, I thought I'd share another idea.

Kids make stuff.  Lots of stuff.  Sometimes it's cool, and sometimes it's... less than cool... but they made it, so it's cute, right?  The trick is, it takes up lots of space.  And after awhile, it's all just clutter to me.

One summer Wyatt and Tate both went to daycamps.  I think Tate's had a sea animal theme, while Wyatt went to a sort of science + inventions + carpentry daycamp.  Mr. Wizard meets Gyro Gearloose, or something like that.  At any rate, they both came home with lots of projects.  Lots of large, 3-dimensional projects.  We displayed them with honor for awhile, but then...

Kerry got out the video camera and interviewed each boy, holding and describing each of his treasures, and talking about daycamp.  Woo-hoo!  What a winner of an idea!  Got it all on a DVD, and the "treasures" gradually all went away.

It's a lot more fun watching their little 5? 7? 8? year old selves talking excitedly about all their adventures when everything was fresh, than pulling some dusty old thing out of a closet and trying to remember what it was.

Hope that helps :D

Good idea! We have thought to take a photograph so that after some display time the project is moved on. The video is a great addition for major events.

Brilliant! I only take photos, but videoing it makes much more sense!

Blessings!
