We have the freedom to teach our faith, beliefs, values and morals to our children from a Biblical worldview, and to keep them out of the care, custody, and control of those who would undermine or contradict us.
An interesting thing happened recently. My in-laws discovered (apparently to their shock) that we don't believe in billions-of-years molecules-to-man evolution. This is not something we've been hiding, by the way. I think they just couldn't bring themselves to believe that we could be so backward until now. (Quit laughing.) As the FIL was unsuccessful in his attempt to set Kerry straight, I expect we've not heard the last of this.
I especially anticipate that this will be a Big Issue for them relative to us homeschooling. Because, good heavens, we're indoctrinating our kids in our narrow-minded, backward ways!
To which I say,
Yes, exactly. That's our job.
Do you think the liberals are doing any different?
To put your minds at ease, we do teach our children about different religions, different theories about the origin of man, different political viewpoints, and different beliefs and opinions about all kinds of things. But we are free to do it from a Biblical worldview.
And that makes all the difference.

We had an interesting (lengthy) conversation at the state fair with a salesman of some sort of cattle equipment. He kept apologizing for asking (like I had something to hide? ... the State sure wants to know e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g...)
The issue of creation vs. evolution came up... I think he was concerned that our kids knew SOMEthing of the other side ~ with which my hubby very much agrees. We ground them in truth, then they LAUGH and shake their heads sadly at the lies so many people would choose to believe.
So much sadder when it's those you know/love... and they might feel obligated to 'intervene' in your parenting :-(
Worldview matters. Beginning at the Beginning.
Have you guys listened to Jonathan Park audio CD's. They are awesome! I've learned so much from them and the boys love the adventure in them.
Really enjoying your blog posts during this series. :- )
So very true! Isn't it amazing ( or maybe not so amazing - knowing Satan is involved) that the million/billion years THEORY creeps into everything. It is always presented as fact. Someday it will all be amazingly clear to all!
Have a blessed day - as usual I love following your blog!

I'm glad these posts are encouraging you, friends :D
Crystal, I've heard of the Jonathan Park CD's, but we really do very little that's just audio as it's not very accessible to Tate. With his hearing loss he relies heavily on visual cues, and hearing an unfamiliar voice (without seeing anything) is really difficult for him to follow. Bummer!
The Apologia science series is excellent! We're in our third book and we love the "Creation Confirmation" sections. BTW, thanks for the encouragement you give through your posts!
Yes! We are doing it differently too! Love the photo--wondering what it is, but it is great. I thought that even the evolutionists are questioning that billions and billions of years theory now too. As always, I wish I spent more time over here. Just catching my breath these days!
Hee hee! It's always fun when someone who thinks they know what is going on in the homeschool classroom finds out differently. I totally agree with what Felicity wrote! Why should we be any different!?
Blessings!
