A Prayer Request

We're going out to the Oregon coast on vacation next week. Hurray!

That's the good news. The bad news is...

After paying a couple hundred bucks to charge up the air-conditioning, anticipating a hot, 7-8 hour drive, we discovered another problem. The air compressor. Yeah. A thousand bucks. Which I do not have. So, no AC. Ugh.

I know, you may just possibly be thinking, "So what? Suck it up and roll down the windows, for cryin' out loud!"

Yeah. I can do that. And I probably will. But for Tate, sitting behind us, working overtime with his one good ear to try to overcome the road noise already... That will effectively cut him off from any communication going on. And, yes, if you know me you know that I can project my voice pretty darn well. But not for 7-8 hours.

So here's my request: Please pray for cool weather on our driving days!

not an unreasonable request at all IMHO! From our fervant lips to God's ears.

I think He loves it when we pray for "simple" things that make a difference to one small HoHearie boy!

I'll be in in prayer about this several times a day for the "duration". Have fun.

I can do that! Are you still having hot weather? Shall I send the rain your way? We're really praying we don't have rain the whole week while we camp.
You know,I think our families went on vacation around the same time last year too.

Praying you have great weather and a wonderful time -- and that it's not too hot while driving.

Blessings!
Deborah

Thankfully, it's much cooler here now, even cloudy and possible rain. I'm thinking more of further south - down near Portland and Salem.

Our forecast (and theirs, too) is for cooler weather the next few days. And out at the coast it's almost always cool, so now problem. But the weather is "supposed" to get hotter by the time we come home.

If it's hot I'll probably ask my folks if the boys can ride with them and their AC :0)

Yes, very reasonable. Will remember you before the Lord knowing the dramas of travelling in heat for long distances with a car load of boisterous guys!!
Thanks so much for your answer on my APD post, too. I'll be back onmy blog tomorrow.

I will pray for cool weather- hey, we'll send you some of ours (if only weather currents went that way)!

Here's to a fun and happy road trip (even without the A/C)!

It's not supposed to be too terribly warm, so you'll probably make it without cranking down all the windows. Just focus on the fact that you get a vacation, which in and of itself is a lovely thought ~ though one foreign to me at the moment.

We'll miss you ~ the boys had a ball yesterday.

Hey Julie, thank you for all of your great comments on the blog, I am so glad that you are reading with us. I love yours too! Your boys are getting so big! How are you doing at your new church? We miss you guys. As a side note, we are starting to talk about kid number two. We started praying back at square one and are feeling led to maybe adopt. Thought you might like to hear.

will totally pray for you guys...

we used Ryan's FM system in the car the other day. His has an option to even plug into my husband's computer to watch a DVD (we dont have a portable DVD player, but I have heard those would work too)

I know the noise will be quite loud with the windows down, but would the FM help Tate at all? I'm still learning about these things, so if thats a stupid question, I'm sorry :)

Oh Man! That stinks. I felt in some ways that Henry was cut off from us in our vacation at the beach...the good majority of the day he didn't have his hearing aids on. I wonder if that is hard on him. It didn't seem to be...he seemed happy doing his thing. But it was something that weighed on me.

Prayers coming your way!

Kristen,

Same with Tate. He would often leave his HA up at the house when we went down to the beach to play. There's so much moisture in the air that even if he's not getting into the water (which is 55F!) it's hard on the equipment.

Somehow Tate copes. I'd see him down the beach, playing with other kids, and wonder how he handles the communication. Of course, we all know just to yell :0)
