Grasshopper Days

Grasshopper Days

For today, June 4, 2012

Outside my window...  everything is shiny green.  I think Washington has more shades of green than anywhere in the world.  Maybe ;D

I am hearing...  rain dripping through the dogwood tree, and the washer running.  I like the sound of the rain a lot better.

I am thinking...  two more weeks of school, two more weeks of school, two more weeks of school...

I am praying...  for Tate's continued healing (he's doing great), for work to continue to come in, for my brother and SIL - expecting a baby in a couple weeks.

I am thankful...  Tate is doing GREAT, Kerry has some work, and - HELLO! - two more weeks of school!

I am creating...  the summer Mother Load - so much to do!

I am going...  to stay HOME today.  Yesterday was kind of crazy.  Crazy good, but busy.  Church, BBQ, Warbirds... I have lots of pics.  Maybe tomorrow?

I am reading...  Code Talker, with the boys.

I am learning...  how to burn a disk on my computer (I'm such a tech-fail person!)

I am looking forward to...  June 19, Tate's activation day.  Trying to keep our expectations realistic, but still really excited.

In the kitchen...  going to make some homemade bread and soup for dinner.  An easy plan for a work-filled Monday.

In the learning rooms...  Tate and Gunnar are cruising through the last of their language and math work.  Wyatt, on the other hand, has a lot (a LOT!) of writing to do this week, having not applied himself while I was distracted with Tate last week.  *sigh*  Thank you, Lord, for the carrot at the end of the stick (big CAP activity this weekend).  Motivation!

Around the house...  ummm, needs attention ;D  Deferred until school is out.  Sort of.

The Mother Load...  mostly revolves around organization and planning.  Also, I would like to be working busily in a garden, but - alas - it is still unfenced.

I am wondering...  what I would do with all my free time if the kids were all in public school?  (No, not going there, just wondering!)

Something I want to remember for later...  the way the boys laugh out loud when they're reading.

A favorite quote for today...  Chance favors the prepared mind.  - Louis Pasteur

One of my favorite things...  finishing things.  Crossing things off my list :D

A favorite verse...

Be strong and courageous and do the work.  Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work ... is finished.
1 Chronicles 28:20

A few plans for the rest of the week...  cross items off list!

A peek into my world...

I hope this doesn't gross you out.

Tate is able to shower now (couldn't right after surgery).  We are supposed to keep the bandaging on (not in the shower! The rest of the time!) not so much to cover the incision (though nobody wants any chance of infection so close to their brain), but to keep pressure on it - to prevent swelling.  I put antibiotic cream on twice a day and make sure he has a clean dressing, though he's allowed to "air" it two or three times a day.

The incision looks GREAT.  Clean.  Dry.  And look at those stitches.  Do you think the doctor does cross-stitch for a hobby?!

Wow!! So, I know that some people might be grossed out by such a picture, but I'm so glad you posted it. That scar looks almost meticulous. And it definitely looks like it's healing wonderfully!

I still get amazed by modern medicine. I'm really looking forward to hearing all about Tate's activation day!

His incision site looks GREAT! I am so excited for his activation, too - it is all so amazing and wonderful.

How is Tate handling being low-key? He's such a go-getter: I bet that is the hardest part for him.

I was just thinking Maine had more shades of green this time of year then anywhere else... It has been raining a lot here, so I bet it even feel like Washington here!

Praying for you and the boys as you finish up school and for Tate to continue healing well. Life is never boring :-)

Sorry I haven't stopped by sooner; work has kept me way too busy. I'm so glad that the surgery went well. Tate (and the whole family) have been in my/our prayers.

I just got into my blog today and found that the formats had been "updated" while I was away. I need to relearn how to navigate it all again. (ugh)

I look forward to catching up on your posts when I get some free time and I will keep everyone in my prayers in the interim.

God bless!
