Christmas Day... at Grandpa and Grandma's house

You know how the old story goes...

When I was a boy we had to walk to school.
In the snow.
Barefoot.
Uphill.
Both ways.

Well, this is the Christmas my boys can tell their grandkids about.
There was no way we could drive up Grandpa and Grandma's 1.2 mile (old logging road) driveway! You can't tell how steep it is in the pictures, but it gains 600-700' in elevation.
Wyatt and Tate had a can-do attitude.
They were ready to walk the whole way,
pulling our gifts behind them on a toboggan :0)

Well... we were all glad to see Grandpa show up on a borrowed quad-runner. (Nice neighbors!)
Not sure how many trips he made, up and down the hill, but we had 15 for Christmas :0)

Talk about a winter wonderland!

Look at those handsome guys!

Seems like every year we say that this was the best Christmas ever :0)

Wow!! I'm going to have to ask our friends in Mt Vernon how much snow they have -- if any.

I love the photo of the boys in front of the tree.

Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas! Your boys should be kept busy building for a few days at least! Isn't LEGO awesome!?!

600-700' is a ski run in this part of the country! You guys certainly got your share of snow this year! Merry Christmas and it looks like everyone had a great time!

Oh my gosh! All that snow!!! Beautiful ... absolutely beautiful! I can't wait for my kids to experience a day of playing in snow!

Yeah, it was fun while it lasted :0)

Funny thing is, we're almost right at sea level and don't often get big dumps of snow, so a lot of activities kind of grind to a halt. But it's melting now...

The fun thing is that we can drive to "play-able" snow about 9 or 10 months of the year. Sometimes as an end-of-school treat we'll drive up to a ski area and go sledding in June!

Okay, Grandma has to 'have her say'. I think this WAS the BEST CHRISTMAS.....and at least partially BECAUSE of the snow. It will certainly be one where we all say, "Remember that Christmas we/you had to ride that quad thing up to G & G's?" Grandpa spent SIX HOURS yesterday plowing/pushing snow off the driveway so today (12/30/08) I might get to drive out after almost three weeks! It has been a blessed Christmas Season. Happy New Year to all.
